Comparison of pedalboards against 19" rack solution

The following table provides an overview of the costs and advantages and disadvantages of pedalboards against rackmounted effect pedals. Calculated is a system for 8 stompboxes, including all cables, but without effect. There were included only quality products, calculated using official list prices in Europe. Of course, you can save some money with the street prices or inferior cable quality.

Conclusion: a pedalboard for 8 stompboxes, including looper, cables, power supply and case is almost exactly as expensive and just as heavy as a Prostage XDS with cables and flightcase. Only the foot controller must be budgeted additionally in Prostage variant.
Note also, that in the pedal board variant, you have to kneel in front of the audience to adjust a knob of the effects. Using a 19" rack, you just get a brief access in the open-ended drawer.
